NYSCHSA's Committees Make a Difference
The primary function of NYSCHSA's Committees is to contribute to the efficient operation of the association. Each Committee regularly looks at its area of focus, discusses the issues at hand, and assists the leadership in the decision-making process by providing needed information and recommendations or the best solutions to a problem. 

NYSCHSA has a wide-range of Committees and Special Representative Assignments.

ASSOCIATION COMMITTEES

CEC Evaluators Committee

Oversees the Continuing Education Credit (CEC) evaluation process to ensure compliance with accreditation standards. Reviews applications, monitors course content, and maintains necessary documentation for audit purposes. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Conference Program & Yearbook Committee

Plans the educational content for conferences and develops the Association's annual yearbook, coordinating speaker outreach, session topics, and publication materials. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Constitution and Bylaw Committee

Reviews and proposes amendments to the Association’s Constitution and Bylaws, ensuring documents remain up-to-date, legally compliant, and aligned with organizational goals. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Executive Committee

Provides leadership and oversight for the Association’s operations between board meetings. Responsible for setting agendas, monitoring financial status, and making timely decisions in the best interest of the membership. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Facilities Committee

This committee aims to address the diverse challenges of facility management across counties, focusing on best practices, compliance with evolving codes, and efficient resource utilization. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Historical Committee

Preserves and promotes the history and legacy of the Association, including maintaining archives, documenting significant events, and recognizing historical milestones. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Local Programs Procedures Manual & LDSA Committee

Maintains and updates the Local Design Services Agreement (LDSA) Manual and related procedures to ensure alignment with current policies, funding requirements, and best practices. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Legislative Committee

Monitors and evaluates legislative activity at the state and federal level, advocates for the Association’s interests, and recommends policy positions to the Board of Directors. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Local Bridge Conference Committee

Plans and coordinates the Local Bridge Conference, including session topics, speakers, sponsorship outreach, and event logistics. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Membership & Outreach Committee

Focuses on membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies. Promotes member benefits and develops outreach efforts to strengthen the Association’s presence. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Nominating, Scholarship & Awards Committee

Manages the nomination process for Board and leadership roles, evaluates scholarship applications, and selects recipients for Association awards. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Program Site Committee

Identifies and secures appropriate venues for conferences and events, negotiating contracts, coordinating site logistics, and conducting site visits as necessary. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Transportation Industry Committee (TIC)

Strengthens relationships between the public and private transportation sectors. Facilitates information sharing, collaboration, and industry engagement with Association initiatives. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

Website & Communications Committee

Oversees the content, design, and functionality of the Association’s website. Develops communication strategies to enhance information dissemination and member engagement. (FULL COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION)

ASSOCIATION SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS

ACEC Committee

Represents the Association on the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Committee, providing input on issues impacting county engineering projects.

ARTBA Representative

Serves as the Association’s liaison to the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), participating in national transportation advocacy efforts.

NACE State Director

Acts as the New York State Director to the National Association of County Engineers (NACE), connecting state and national transportation initiatives.

NACo Transportation Committee

Represents the Association on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Committee, helping shape national transportation policy for local governments.

NYSAC ASSIGNMENT

NYSAC Standing Committee on Transportation and Public Works

Participates in the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) Standing Committee on Transportation and Public Works, advocating for county transportation priorities at the state level.
