Legislative Action Center
The Association launched a new grassrootslegislative advocacy campaign in January 2005. Members will see this as a recurring theme in our message materials.

Local Roads Matter!
Sensing the ongoing challenges of fighting for state funding year after year, theLocal Roads Matter! Association chose to take a fresh look at their advocacy efforts, and invest in a more visible presence with the Governor and state legislature.

The campaign centers around the slogan: Local Roads Matter! The slogan is intended to highlight the impact of local roads on the state and local economy. This site will serve as the "virtual headquarters" for the campaign. Check back often to learn about what we are doing to ensure New York's local roads and bridges are safe for New York's driving citizens.

2010 Advocacy Day: March 9-10
The New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways, Inc. (NYSAOTSOH) and the New York State County Highway Superintendents Association, Inc. (NYSCHSA) are joining forces again for our state-wide Legislative Grassroots Campaign! New York State Legislative Leaders as well as industry professionals from across the State will gather in downtown Albany in support of increased funding for local roads and bridges.

Our advocacy program begins on Tuesday evening, March 9th, with a budget briefing and strategy meeting, followed by a Local Roads Forum with Legislators at the Crowne Plaza. At Tuesday’s briefing we will update you on the status of state budget negotiations and the latest political developments. Position papers, talking points and other handouts will be distributed at the briefing before Legislators arrive.

On Wednesday, March 10th attendees will gather for an early breakfast and briefing at the hotel before boarding shuttles to go up the hill to the Legislative Office Building [about two blocks] for appointments with state lawmakers and their staff.

Forms are in the mail and are available below, but you may also click here to sign up online!
