Transportation design and construction firms and public agencies from across the country were recognized for “excellence in community relations and public education” during the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) 2012 PRIDE Awards lunch, held May 30 in the Nation’s Capitol during the association’s Federal Issues Program.

Thirteen Bridges in Syracuse and Utica Regions to be Completed by 2013
New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald announced that construction is beginning on a $17.4 million contract to replace 13 bridge decks in Oneida, Onondaga and Cayuga counties through Governor Andrew Cuomo's NY Works program.

NYSCHSA Connects in Ithaca
The annual June Highway School in Ithaca provided another outstanding educational and networking experience for highway superintendents, commissioners and their staff.  The Association uses this industry event to discuss Association business, present a timely training session with PDH continuing education credits and connect with colleagues and old friends at the Reception and Annual Luncheon.

It was nice to connect with Jim Brady (Lifetime Member, Past President 2008, Former Wayne County Superintendent 1993-2009), Bill Dashnaw (Lifetime Member, Past President 2011, Former St. Lawrence County Superintendent 1999-2011), Randy Gibbon, PE (Lifetime Member, Past President 2002, Former Chenango County Superintendent 1997-2012), Willy Grimmke, PE, (Past Treasurer and Former Washington County Superintendent 1997-2010), Bill Mobbs (Lifetime Member, Past President 1989 and Former Tompkins County Superintendent 1978-1998), Don Morey (Lifetime Member, Past President 2004 and Former Oswego County Superintendent 1990-2006), Don Smith (Lifetime Member, Former Niagara County Commissioner 1977-1996), and Tim Von Neida (Lifetime member, Past President 1996 and former Chemung Commissioner 1984-2006).
